WP Care Plan Is Now a Free Plugin
January 6, 2026
An Important Update
First and foremost, thank you for supporting WP Care Plan.
This plugin began as an internal tool I built for my own care plan clients. When I realized it could be useful to others, I shared it more widely. I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who chose to use it, support it, and integrate it into their workflow.
Your trust made it possible for this project to exist at all.
What’s Changing, and Why This Is Good News
After a lot of reflection, I’ve decided to transition WP Care Plan from a paid product to a free, open-source plugin hosted on GitHub.
This means:
- No licenses
- No subscriptions
- No renewals
- No risk of being locked out of something you rely on
This decision comes from knowing where I do my best work. While creating WP Care Plan was a valuable learning experience, I’ve learned that long-term plugin product development isn’t where I want to spend my energy. I’m at my best doing client work where I’m building sites, supporting businesses directly, and staying close to real-world WordPress problems.
Rather than half-maintain a paid product or pass it off to someone else, I believe the most respectful option is to set the plugin free and make its future transparent.
What This Means For You (Practically)
-
All active subscriptions have been canceled.
You will not be charged again. -
The plugin will continue to receive security updates and bug fixes.
If issues arise or vulnerabilities are discovered, they will be patched. -
No new features are planned.
The plugin is considered feature-complete, with the focus on stability and reliability. -
You can continue using WP Care Plan with confidence.
Nothing is being turned off, restricted, or removed (apart from licensing).
A Note on the Plugin Name
You may have noticed ongoing trademark discussions about the use of “WP” and “WordPress” in plugin names. While I’m a very small creator and not directly involved, the uncertainty around how these rules are being interpreted reinforced my decision to simplify things and move away from the commercial plugin ecosystem entirely.
The Bottom Line
My goal here is simple:
- No surprises
- No forced migrations
- No pressure to replace something overnight
- No paying for software that isn’t actively evolving
You supported this project in good faith, and this transition is about honoring that.
Thank You
WP Care Plan was my first plugin, and I learned a great deal from building it and supporting its users. I’m deeply thankful to everyone who trusted it enough to use it in their business.
